Hello, OpenCV community! We have some news that is both a little unfortunate but also pretty exciting if you’ve submitted a proposal for OpenCV AI Competition 2021.
We are delaying the announcement of Phase 1 winners by a week. The results for Phase 1 of OpenCV AI Competition 2021 will now be announced on March 3, 2021, 6 PM Pacific Time. Keep an eye on the Competition page for that.
The sheer volume of submissions and their high quality, made it difficult to select the finalists without rushing through the process and potentially missing some really great projects.
As a result, we are not just delaying the announcement. We are expanding the number of teams who will continue on to Phase 2 of OpenCV AI Competition 2021. To be clear, we are not accepting NEW proposals.
This raised a problem for us – do we announce the winners we’ve already selected, and then follow up with the second batch of winners? In the end we decided this wouldn’t be fair, and we think you’ll agree.
Every submission has already been independently reviewed by two reviewers, and this extra time also gives us a chance to do one last fully comprehensive review before we publish the finalists. The effort you put in your submission will be evenly matched by the attention and care we put in the review process.
We are very sorry for this delay, and can’t wait to share the final results with you next week.
