The OpenCV-SID Conference on Computer Vision and AI (OSCCA), OpenCV’s first ever in-person conference, is just a few days away! If you’re in the SF Bay Area, it is a can’t-miss event this May 12th. Let’s take a look at some of the speakers and topics you can expect to see on stage.
Gary Bradski, Founder of OpenCV

OpenCV founder Gary Bradski, a huge figure in the CV world, will be giving a rare talk at the event. Renowned for his work on the DARPA Grand Challenge-winning car, Stanley. He literally wrote the book on OpenCV. Bradski has been instrumental in advancing computer vision research.
Satya Mallick, CEO of OpenCV

What OpenCV event would be complete without CEO Dr. Satya Mallick? The boss will lead off the conference with a look at the long-awaited OpenCV version 5 release. It’s close! But it took a lot to get this far. Satya will tell us about the failures and successes along the way, and what needs to change to keep open source CV & AI viable.
Kwabena Agyeman, CEO of OpenMV

Kwabena Agyeman is a staple of Bay Area tech events, and is a longtime friend to OpenCV. The latest OpenMV cams just successfully closed a Kickstarter to the tune of $143,000, and the future is bright for these tiny but mighty cams. Kwab will be speaking about using TensorFlow Lite for MCs with Numpy.
Monica Song, Product Manager, Google

Monica Song is a Product Manager at Google, with an expertise in and focus on open-source frameworks like Keras and JAX. She’s is a graduate of Harvard with a background in computer science. We expect this talk to go deep!
Kartik Venkatraman, Head of Perception, Intrinsic

Kartik is Head of Perception at Intrinsic (part of Alphabet), where the team develops state-of-the-art vision technology for robotic assembly automation. Recently, Intrinsic partnered with OpenCV to run the Perception Challenge for Bin-Picking, a new competition for robotics and AI.
Stephen Okay, Roboticist, Familiar Robotics

Stef’s resume speaks for itself: Willow Garage, Circuit Launch, and his own consulting firm Familiar Robotics. At OSCCA, Stef will share some of the hard-won practical knowledge he’s gained working with OpenCV and building many, many, robots.
Ted Larson, ologic

Ted is a self-described “Hardware/Software Geek” with 30+ yrs. of experience designing, and building consumer and robotic products. His talk at OSCCA will revolve around looking at some of the latest demos for embodied / physical AI and talking through how it works.
Joseph Nelson, CEO of Roboflow

Joseph Nelson, known Iowan and CEO of Roboflow, has led the RF team to impressive heights in the company’s young life. Roboflow is renowned for its machine learning tools which combine power and an elegant simplicity. See what Joseph and the team have learned in their journey so far.
Prerna Dhareshwar, Machine Learning Engineer, Voxel51

Prerna is a machine learning engineer passionate about applying ML to real-world problems across industries, with a particular focus on computer vision. Her talk will show us how semantic search reshapes how we build and refine AI systems.
Ethan Rublee, Co-Founder & CEO, space-ng

CEO and Co-Founder of Space-ng, Rublee is a veteran of the AI and robotics world, whose team at Space-ng recently helped land the Blue Ghost rover on the moon! We’re excited to see Ethan here on planet earth at OSCCA.
Jose Benitez, Founder, Intiuitivo

Jose is Founder and Director of AI at Intuitivo, whose work in Autonomous Point of Purchase (A-POP) has garnered much recognition, including being named an MIT Innovator Under 35 in 2022. Jose’s career in AI took off after completing an OpenCV University course.
