The long wait is almost over. The dust has settled, the hard choices have been made, and the winners have been chosen by our esteemed panel of judges for OpenCV AI Competition 2021. Before we continue, myself and the entire team behind this competition would like to extend out warmest thanks to everyone who participated- from the original proposal phase in January to the announcement of winners here in September, it has been an affair to remember.
This competition began with the goals of furthering the spread of AI through the global OpenCV community, making edge AI hardware more affordable and easier to access, and focusing that power on social good. We think, here at end, that together we have accomplished those lofty goals- but of course there is so much more to do!
120 teams submitted final proposals, and our panel of judges chose the top 3 from each of 6 global regions as our Regional Prize Winners. The choices were difficult, but only because the submissions were all so strong.

What’s Next?
We’ve already fielded questions from folks asking us- what’s next? Hopefully for all of our participant teams what comes next is a much-needed rest! Throughout the competition, the response from all of you has been off-the-charts and we are so grateful for your time and attention. Whatever happens next, you can be sure it will be big, and you’ll hear about it first in the OpenCV Newsletter. To start with, we’re cooking up something new on Kickstarter…
