SuperAnnotate Desktop is the fastest image and video annotation software. It was built based on SuperAnnotate's web platform which is designed based on feedback from thousands of annotators that have spent hundreds of thousands of hours on labeling. The tool allows computer vision engineers or small annotation teams to quickly annotate images/videos, as well as it provides efficient features to explore already labeled datasets.

SuperAnnotate provides a free annotation software that is built to accommodate a vast range of annotation tasks: from object detection, instance and semantic segmentation, keypoint annotation, cuboid annotation to video tracking. SuperAnnotate will allow you to go through your annotation project effortlessly in the most efficient manner.

Create project

Once installed, you are all set to start your first project. To create a project, give it a name, choose a project directory, and then upload the images you want to annotate. You can also start a new project by choosing the directory of the previous annotated projects.

Create or upload classes

You can set up classes directly from the labeling panel in the editor by either uploading the classes.json file or manually creating the class ontology.

Open an existing project

Alternatively, you can open an existing project by choosing the path to your project file.

Labeling and the editor

After successfully installing and creating your projects and classes, use the editor to annotate the images. Please check the following links to become familiar with the editor.

SDK and Annotation Upload

Even if you have a large amount of annotated data in other tools or platforms, you can still upload your annotations to SuperAnnotate Desktop and perform a quality check. Using the editor filters (learn more here, Section 3), one can search and edit all the objects with a certain class which can be essential for checking and correcting your algorithm’s prediction accuracy or the annotation quality. You can transfer your annotation from other open-source tools and paid platforms. For the conversion, you can use our Python SDK which provides all the conversion scripts to make an easy transition.
